Cogency announces partnership with Seclab

Digital transformation is bringing the worlds of IT and OT closer together every day. Data flows between industrial systems and information systems, infrastructures are becoming more interconnected, and regulatory requirements are becoming stricter.

This convergence creates new opportunities... but also new risks.

For industrial organizations, critical infrastructure operators, and companies operating in OT environments, the issue is no longer simply about protecting their systems: it is now about ensuring business continuity, even in the event of a cyber incident.

With this in mind, Cogency is pleased to announce its partnership with Seclab, a European vendor specializing in cybersecurity for OT environments.

A shared vision of resilience

At Cogency, we view cybersecurity as just one component of operational resilience.

Our mission is to help organizations identify their critical services, understand their dependencies, define protection architectures, and prepare recovery capabilities that will enable them to resume operations when a major incident occurs.

This approach finds a natural extension in the solutions developed by Seclab, which provide advanced capabilities for visibility, isolation, and protection of industrial environments.

See before you protect

A security architecture is effective only if it is based on a precise understanding of the environment it protects.

The Seclab Xcore platform takes a phased approach based on three pillars: Discover, Isolate, and Detect. It enables the discovery of OT assets, the mapping of actual traffic flows, the identification of vulnerabilities, and the determination of critical assets as well as communications that are truly necessary.

Thanks to Seclab Xplore, this discovery is performed passively, without disrupting industrial processes. Assets, their dependencies, and their communications are reconstructed to provide actionable insights for segmentation, transformation, or resilience projects.

This understanding is an essential step before any decision regarding isolation or security.

A new approach to isolating critical environments

In critical infrastructures, certain exchanges between networks must be maintained while ensuring a strong separation between environments.

To address this challenge, Seclab has developed Xchange. Unlike an approach based solely on communication filtering, Xchange implements a hardware protocol break. Authorized communications are reconstructed in a controlled manner, without maintaining a direct network connection between the two environments.

This architecture creates an electronic separation between two trust domains while preserving the communication flows essential to industrial operations. Administration is independent on each side of the boundary, and only explicitly defined data flows are permitted.

Strong complementary with Cyber Recovery

This technology naturally fits into the Cyber Recovery projects led by Cogency.

When an organization must restore its critical services following a cyberattack, trust in the infrastructure becomes a fundamental element. Isolating recovery environments, controlling data exchanges between different zones, and limiting attack surfaces are core principles of resilience architectures.

Seclab’s Electronic AirGap™ provides additional capabilities to meet these requirements, particularly in industrial, energy, and transportation environments, or any other critical infrastructure where the separation between different domains is a key factor in resilience.

An enhanced offering for our clients

Through this partnership, Cogency strengthens its operational resilience offering by integrating specialized solutions for OT environments.

By combining our expertise in Operational Resilience, Cyber Recovery, Business Continuity, and IT Platforms with the technologies developed by Seclab, we offer a cohesive approach covering the entire resilience lifecycle: understanding environments, protecting critical assets, controlling data exchanges between trusted zones, and preparing for the reliable restoration of essential services.
